Overview

Sniffari is a community platform for dog owners. The client handed over a Next.js front end that only ran on mock data; Hamza wrote the entire backend (Express, Prisma, PostgreSQL), connected the front end to real accounts and data, added automated tests and CI, and deployed it to production behind HTTPS.

Highlights

  • Wrote the backend from scratch: 17 API modules and 19 Prisma models covering dogs, swipe matching, events, a services exchange, messaging, blog, Q&A, reviews, notifications and admin.
  • Connected the existing front end to live data: 74 files changed and about 4,900 lines added over 7 change rounds.
  • Added about 260 automated tests (Jest + Supertest API suites, Vitest units, Playwright smoke tests) running in a GitHub Actions workflow.
  • Ran a hardening pass: rate limiting on credential and code endpoints, database indexes on hot paths, crash handlers with Sentry and dependency upgrades.
  • Deployed to production with HTTPS on a VPS (nginx, PM2).
